Queen of Hearts (A YA Book Review)
Queen of Hearts by Colleen Oakes
I really liked this book! It is very different from Alice in Wonderland. The general premise is there, but people are reimagined in new and interesting ways. Dinah is very likeable and you sense her grief from the death of her mother and her jerk of a father's treatment of her. Some scenes were difficult for me to visualize for some reason, not sure if it was overly complicated description or what exactly, but it didn't detract from the story. I really hope Dinah doesn't end up like the true Queen of Hearts (a ruthless, blood thirsty ruler). I think the story is different enough where Colleen Oakes can do whatever the heck she wants with it. I do believe this will be a trilogy and I am waiting anxiously for the arrival of Blood of Wonderland on my doorstep tomorrow. Also, channeling my inner Doctor Who when it comes to Dinah's love interest, can just this once everybody live (or at least this one person)?
