Wonder Woman: Warbringer | A YA Book Review

Wonder Woman: Warbringer (DC Icons 1) by Leigh Bardugo

I'm not sure what to say about this so I'll keep it relatively short. I have my suspicions that DC and WB may have put restrictions on the authors of these Icons books to appeal to a wider audience.

The Not So Good: The book was kind of boring in the beginning and was off to a slow start. I was not a fan of a major plot twist in the last quarter of the book. It also just seemed...off. I love Leigh Bardugo and all of Grishaverse and this somehow felt stilted.

The Good: Alia, Nim, and Theo were awesome and Nim allowed for some of Bardugo's trademark sass. There were gods, goddesses, and mythology. The second half was better than the first.

That's it. If it's true that DC and WB put limitations on the authors of these series then they did the audience a great disservice. I'm reading Nightwalker next and will remember not to decide whether to read more of Marie Lu solely based on my opinion of that book because it may not be a true reflection of her writing.
